music videos are used to promote the band
it can promote their image. so it allows the audience to know what type of music they play and the type of audience that listens to them. also the way they dress and the way other people dress in the video gives you an idea of their image and by what goes on in the video for instance is it dark or bright.
music video can promote a change to an artist such as their music style and image style so the video allows the audience to see , it can als promote fashion , whether its thier own brand or someone else.
it can can also help to promote a small band by putting them in the music video as a camio with a bigger more popular artist

today i watched chris cunnigham documentary and it was dark but very interesting the videos all had a narrative and all were unique and clever.
its not personally the kind of video making i wat to do but it was a good insight
